How It All Began
Hi! My name is ... Mikey! I’m non-verbal, severely autistic and very smart and funny. I’m so fortunate to have two strong advocates in my life, who fight for me each and every single day! I’m here to tell you how the Special Education Sister Act began! It is one amazing journey of how two sisters decided to make the education space a better place for all children… all because of my Uncle Skip.
It all started 40 years ago when my Uncle Skip was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, (ADD). His elementary school was not willing to provide him with the help he needed to learn and be successful! That was the beginning of Auntie Elena’s career in education. She was determined to help as many children as possible by becoming a teacher. She wanted to help children learn despite any challenges that arose for her students! Auntie Elena earned her degree at Southern Connecticut State University. She earned her Reading and ESOL Endorsements too!
Fast Forward 40 years, my Auntie Elena now has a very strong working knowledge of the teaching world, educational laws, state regulations, coupled with an amazing business world foundation. These established careers foundations are the perfect ingredients to make one amazing Educational Advocate!
With drive and determination my Auntie Elena will work with you to be certain that your kiddo is provided with all the support needed to ensure all educational needs are met for their unique circumstances. Everyone needs success!

You might wonder how I am so certain my Auntie Elena can help you, so
let me tell you why – She does it for ME! Every! Single! Day! So, I know
she can do it for you (and she has my mommy for back up – if needed!

Her educational support system is AMAZING)! To put it simply, Auntie Elena is the best advocate ever! (Don’t tell mommy that I said that!)

My mommy followed in Auntie Elena’s footsteps and became one fabulous
teacher! Mommy earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Central
Florida, GO KNIGHTS! Her career progressed, she earned her master’s degree in Emotional Handicap, Varying Exceptionality at Nova Southeastern University, she earned her National Board Certification in Early Childhood Generalist and she became a reading specialist at the encouragement of one of her favorite principals.

Responsibilities included her becoming a member of the school admin team & full MTSS/RTI Lead for her school. This meant when anyone had a problem, they went to speak with mommy first, simply because she knows A LOT and wants to share
her knowledge.

My mommy wants me to be able to live my best life! To do this, she realized she needed to become an advocate, learn all about those awesome educational laws, to fully ensure my school was doing everything possible to help me, especially while I am transitioning into adulthood.

Mommy says I need to have all the opportunities to prepare for further
education, independent living and future employment… to the best of my ability…everyone’s different ya know?!?

With perseverance & a single-minded goal, to have YOUR child live their
best life, my mommy, the spectacular educational advocate, will help you to
achieve that goal. She will do this by making sure your child is given every
opportunity and support to accomplish all skills (educational & life), to the
best of their abilities. Just like she continues to do for me! Every! Single!
Day!

To put it simply, my mommy is the best advocate ever (Don’t tell Auntie
Elena I said that!)
